Our Comfort Plus Insulated Mats provide the most effective system for fine tuning the level of comfort available in any air mat today.\n\nWhen we set out to design a mat that was better than what was already available, we ultimately went back to why we carry a sleeping mat into the wild in the first place — to give us a better night’s sleep. ‘Better’ is of course a very subjective ambition and while we could have made the lightest, or the most compact mat ever designed, we’re stoked to present what we consider to be the most comfortable sleeping mattresses available. Happy sleeping!\n\nDual Layer construction uses two independent high resolution layers, giving greater sensitivity by distributing your body weight and shape over more cells. The two layers are offset for more uniform insulation and cushioning.\n\nDual layer construction uses two independent high resolution layers, giving greater sensitivity by distributing your body weight and shape over more cells. The two layers are offset for more uniform insulation, support and cushioning.\n\nThe Comfort Plus range provides the most effective system for fine tuning the level of comfort available in any air mattress today. If you are on eneven or bumpy terrain, the you can inflate the bottom layer of the mattress very firm at higher pressure as a barrier. You can then adjust the upper layer, using the fine tune valve, to a lower pressure to feel softer and more comfortable. The Dual layer design also ensure a level of built in redundancy. If you do end up with a puncture in one layer of the mattress, then you can still get through the night with the other layer of the mattress intact.\n\nThe air sprung cells are the core technology of our Sleeping Mat range, and are the reason why you will sleep better on a Sea to Summit Sleeping Mat. Instead of the typical baffled construction, Sea to Summit sleeping mats are constructed using a dot-weld pattern to create a high surface-area matrix of interconnected chambers called Air Sprung Cells. Air Sprung Cells operate in the same way as a pocket spring mattress, as each cell deforms independently the mattress conforms to your body shape which feels softer and more comfortable with more body contact area and even dispersion of pressure.\n\nOur TPU lamination is applied through a process unique to the medical and aeronautical industries. Extrusion lamination is more durable, consistent and enables us to use our own TPU recipe. It is vastly superior to roll-to-roll lamination, which is used in most other outdoor products at present and can suffer from delamination issues. We have also introduced an anti-microbial treatment into the TPU to prevent mould or fungal growth.\n\nTo make inflation and deflation easier, Sea to Summit has developed our own, patent-pending multi-function valve.\n\nThe valve integrates an inflate port with a one-way valve to prevent air loss before you seal the valve, a rapid air dump deflate port, and a fine tune button to adjust for comfort – all in one compact, low profile unit.\n\nASTM F3340-18 R-values are the industry standard of determining resistance to heat loss for sleeping mats.\n\nSea to Summit gets their sleeping mats independently tested at the EMPA laboratories in Switzerland. In the test, R-values (resistance to heat flow) are measured by placing a hot plate on one side of a sleeping mat and a cold plate on the other. Electronic sensors then determine how much energy it takes to keep the hot plate at a consistent body heat.\n\nAs of 1 January, 2020, we will be using the new industry standard ASTM F3340-18 test to provide R-values for our mats. This new method of testing the insulative properties of sleeping mats will see some changes to our previously published R-values. It’s important to note that where these values change, it doesn’t signify a drop or increase in warmth—it simply means they have been tested using a slightly different scale.
