Jaxon is new in town and decides the best way to make friends is to join a preschool and commence his education. But as he comes late to the term, he must learn the rules as he goes and discern some rather unusual playtime traditions. When his curiosity compels him to cross a ponderous playground, he discovers a world of warm sand and his imagination takes flight. Told with quiet restraint, Jaxon faces his first day of school with stoicism and learns that the challenge is worth the effort, friends can be found, and parents will always return.
