Building upon the investigative skills introduced in Fugitive Investigation I, Fugitive Investigation II: America's Biggest Criminal Investigations takes students deeper into some of the most influential and complex criminal investigations in United States history. This course examines how organized crime, public corruption, outlaw criminal enterprises, financial investigations, intelligence gathering, undercover operations, forensic science, and multi-agency task forces have shaped modern law enforcement.
Rather than focusing on the criminals themselves, this course emphasizes the investigators, prosecutors, intelligence analysts, forensic experts, and law enforcement professionals who spent years building cases against sophisticated criminal organizations. Students will examine how investigators uncovered evidence, developed confidential informants, conducted surveillance, dismantled criminal networks, and successfully prosecuted individuals whose crimes affected communities across the nation.
Students will explore landmark investigations involving organized crime families, the mysterious disappearance of Jimmy Hoffa, the decades-long pursuit of James "Whitey" Bulger, outlaw motorcycle gangs, serial criminal enterprises, large-scale fraud, public corruption, and major federal investigations that changed American law enforcement practices.
