De Synology DiskStation DS218+ is een data-opslag-server ontworpen voor gebruiksgemak en efficiëntie, voorzien van twee harddisk slots, inclusief harddisks. Het hart van deze DiskStation is een Intel® Celeron® J3355 processor met twee threads. Met zijn processor lithografie van 14 nm draagt deze bij aan de energie-efficiëntie van het apparaat, wat gestaafd wordt door de Thermal Design Power (TDP) van slechts 10 watt. Dit model wordt versterkt door een intern geheugen van 2GB DDR3L en een onboard Intel® HD Graphics 500 videokaart. Het systeem werkt op een 5 GT/s systeembus en is aangesloten via een BGA 1296 processor socket. Dankzij de ingebouwde LED indicatie lampjes kunt u eenvoudig de stroomtoevoer controleren. De DiskStation DS218+ is ontworpen voor een temperatuur in bedrijf tussen de 5 en 40°C, en een luchtvochtigheid in bedrijf tussen de 5 en 95%. Het ondersteunt SATA III als opslagschijf-interface en heeft afmetingen van 23.22cm diepte, 16.50cm hoogte en 10.80cm breedte, wat het een compact en veelzijdig apparaat maakt. Het biedt ethernet LAN snelheden van 10.100 Mbits/s en beschikt over drie USB 3.0 type A poorten. Let wel, WIFI wordt niet ondersteund. Dit model is compatibel met Windows OS, specifiek Windows 10 en Mac OS, specifiek Mac OS X 10.11 El Capitan. Het biedt diverse beveiligingsalgoritmen, zoals HTTPS, SSH en SSL/TLS, voor het veilig overzetten van gegevens.
