Cotton fabrics are widely used in various applications, including apparel, healthcare and textiles. However, their inherent nature and favourable conditions for microbial growth render them susceptible to contamination by pathogens. The growth of microorganisms not only affects the textile itself but also poses a risk to the user. The healthcare industry is increasingly concerned with the exposure and transference of various microorganisms that are commonly present in the atmosphere. Consequently, a simple and practical method for fortification of cotton fabrics with dithiocarbamate-metal complexes is developed in this work to enhance antibacterial properties of cotton fabrics.
