Our Knowledge Publishing Guinée "Or Bleu" : Défis et perspectives de gestion intégrée Paperback

The Republic of Guinea, a West African country, faces significant shortages in access to drinking water for both urban and rural populations. Even the capital, Conakry, is not spared, particularly in its outer suburbs. The main drivers of this crisis are uncontrolled urbanisation and population growth, all against a backdrop of severe environmental pressures. These pressures are largely due to deforestation, mining and industrial pollution, which are contaminating water resources against a backdrop of global warming. According to climate projections, rainfall in Guinea could decline sharply by 2100. Hence the need to take a closer look at water. This is justified by the fact that this resource is recognised as the driving force behind national development, given its importance across various socio-economic sectors. The current situation in the water sector calls for a change in management approach.
