Life for the average American high schooler is simpler, more stress-free. In her small town on the East Coast, she has gone to school with almost all of the same people since kindergarten, and has been able to mostly avoid the drama. That's because while most people have to worry about a mean girl in the school hallways, Danni's "mean girl" takes up residence in her own head. As she finally starts to branch out and come out of her shell, her life suddenly becomes very dramatic, but a lot more interesting.
