Homai Train Station is on the Southern Line of the Auckland railway network. It has an Island platform layout and is reached by a ramp from Browns Road, and level crossings from McVilly Road and Dalgety Road. It has a park and ride facility. This station was upgraded in 2006 and features a modern shelter, stylish platform lighting and a much longer platform than the original. Stations were formerly generally owned by the Auckland Regional Transport Authority (ARTA), bearing its MAXX brand, and the rail infrastructure by ONTRACK / KiwiRail. However, after National government cancelled a regional fuel tax intended to finance the expansion of the network, the resulting funding gap forced the Auckland Regional Council to effectively cede control over the stations to ensure continued maintenance could be financed.
