Description du produit

In September 2025, a South African preacher said Jesus had shown him two dates. Within weeks the claim had produced more than three hundred thousand videos. People sold cars. Students skipped examinations. Some bought cheap Bibles in bulk and left them in their houses for whoever would be there afterward. Then the day passed, as it has passed every time for two thousand years.Another date is now circulating for this fall. It has no single author, it rests on a calculation rather than a vision, and two earlier dates from the same body of material have already failed this year without slowing it down. This book asks why this keeps happening, and what it costs.Arthur A. Tiger works through the passages themselves, one at a time, following the scholarship where it leads and without assuming the reader's conclusion. What emerges is not what most Christians have been taught. The return of Christ is asserted on every page of the New Testament. The seven-year timetable, the suspended clock inside Daniel's seventy weeks, the removal of the church before the tribulation: none of it is in the text. It was assembled in the 1830s by one man working out the implications of a theory about the church, and it reached the modern world through a study Bible that printed the commentary beneath the verses in the same typeface. From there the book traces the pattern across twenty centuries and finds that a hundred and twenty named dates were produced by only nine formulas. The variables change constantly. The Antichrist has been a pope, a sultan, a dictator, a president. The formulas never change at all.But this is not a book about other people's mistakes. Its longest section is about what Scripture actually asks of us in the absence of a date, and it is more demanding than any countdown. Every parable Jesus told about waiting has the same shape: nobody is commended for expecting correctly, and everybody who is commended is found at work.Written for the reader who is uneasy about all this and has no way to say why, for the pastor who will have to speak about it soon, and above all for anyone who has already been through one of these episodes and is living with what it cost.Includes a complete chronological table of named dates from the second century to the present, and an eight-question test for evaluating any prophetic claim.
