The two kinds of math a child spends. Clocks and money are the first math a child uses in the real world, and this book
treats both honestly. Every clock face is drawn with the hour hand where it really sits
- halfway along at half past - because that is exactly the thing children misread. And
the money climbs like real money does: the coins, then the dollar, then the bills to
$100, then whole wallets of bills and coins together, written the way every price tag
writes them. Made for both sides of the border. The coins and bills in this book are the
values American and Canadian pockets share - and the last five pages are a toonie
finale for our Canadian friends, which anyone may work, because a $2 is just 200
cents. An answer key you can trust, by construction. Every one of the 2,080 answers
was computed together with its problem and independently re-checked by a separate
program before printing. The key and the questions agree by construction - not by
proofreading. Inside:
- 88 practice sets: reading clocks, elapsed time, coins, bills and wallet totals
- Honest clock faces - the hour hand moves the way a real one does
- Money in denominations: cents, the dollar, and the bills both countries carry
- The Money and the Clock reference page, with how times are said out loud
- Start Here placement check
- Full printed answer key, machine-checked at build time
- Badge tracker, personal-best log, and a certificate at the end
