They say the streets are dangerous. I say the streets are a battlefield -- and most civilians don't even know they're already in a war zone. I came back to the United States thinking I was leaving the battlefield behind. But what I found was a different kind of warzone. Drive-by shootings. Robberies at ATMs. Women being stalked and attacked in broad daylight at parks. People being stabbed on their morning jog. Carjackings in suburban neighborhoods. The violence that was once concentrated in combat zones had seeped into everyday American life.
I wrote this book to keep people safe, stay alive and to stay aware of the dangers in our society, because the battlefield doesn't care about your feelings. Neither does the street.
