Facing up to redundancy and newly single, former journalist Steve Anderson decides he needs to get away from it all for a while, ending up in the picturesque city of Ghent in Belgium. A bit of time to take in some history, some long walks, and - most importantly - some top-notch Belgian beers. Before long, though, he stumbles across a perplexing sequence of events involving a missing student, a missing bar owner and stolen historic brewery artefacts.

Despite wanting a quiet life, Steve soon finds himself drawn into these little local difficulties, not least because it allows him to spend more time with fellow beer enthusiast Sanne. But could he really build a new life here? And did he want to? There was only one way to find out...
